Organic Fair Trade charter
Organic Fair Trade: a sustainable commitment...
Emma Noël already has three Organic Fair Trade certified supply chains, for sesame, argan and baobab.
Huilerie Emile Noël is one of the companies that in the early 1980s committed to an alternative economy by supporting fair trade. Founder Emile Noël, a great lover of Africa and constantly on the look-out for new raw materials for his oils, focused on Burkina Faso and then Mali to develop the cultivation of organic sesame seeds.
This supply chain now includes the production of more than 1,300 tonnes of sesame seed, which provides jobs and a steady income for more than 150 Malian villages, which are home to nearly 8,000 families of producers who work about 8,000 hectares. An estimated 100,000 people currently benefit from this activity.
The company wishes to offer an expanding catalogue of products that meet Organic Fair Trade criteria, as soil and climate conditions allow.
A small range that will grow over time
At present, our Organic Fair Trade range features personal-care and beauty oils (argan and baobab) and liquid soaps (liquid soap with lavandin essential oil).
They're in our interactive catalogue…

BIO EQUITABLE is a non-profit association of small and medium sized businesses who have always been careful to make products that meet sustainable-development criteria.
This policy covers the entire supply chain: farmers, converters, retailers and consumers.
The BIO EQUITABLE (Organic Fair Trade) brand gives consumers the guarantee that the product carrying the logo meets the following BIO EQUITABLE charter criteria:
1. Compliance with at least one of the internationally-recognised sets of Organic Farming regulations (EEC, JAS, NOP, etc.);
2. Contract-based undertakings between operators and producers or producer organisations and/or representatives of middlemen;
3. All costs of organic certification and fair trade verification are paid by project sponsors (operators and/or producer organisations and/or international institutions), so that in no event are they borne by the producers;
4. Supply on an ongoing basis by all means (including financial) or technical support: managerial assistance, training in Organic and Sustainable Farming and in the BIO EQUITABLE specifications set (organisational, business-administration and local-technician work support) in keeping with local cultures and traditions;
5. Application of a commercial policy based on a "contractual guaranteed minimum price" allowing fair remuneration of producers and employees to decently support their needs and those of their families, and which aims to make the production activity economically profitable;
6. Commitment to guarantee basic and fundamental human rights, to reject producer exploitation, to respect employees' labour rights (weekly rest, hygiene, health and safety) and protect children in labour, etc.;
7. Develop sustainable agriculture and maintain the local rural fabric;
Right along the supply chain, compliance with these criteria is inspected by ECOCERT, an independent organisation accredited by COFRAC (France) for organic farming, and which over more than a decade has acquired the requisite qualities of competence and experience.
As a result, the BIO EQUITABLE brand is associated with objective, measurable and verifiable criteria underpinned by rigour and commitment to the service of overall organic quality of products and to the observance by producers and their families of the ethical and social conditions of their production, as part of a true drive towards sustainable development and social progress.
